Dramatic Win, Genoa Defeats Sassuolo 3-2, Jay Idzes Shows 90 Minutes

JAKARTA - Genoa won their first victory dramatically in Serie A for the 2025/26 season with a score of 2-1 over Sassuolo in the 10th week which was held at the Mapei Stadium on Tuesday morning WIB.

Leo Ostigard's injury time goal was decisive, even though the captain of the Indonesian national team Jay Idzes performed for 90 minutes for the hosts.

This victory, as reported by Antara, raised Genoa to 18th in the standings with 6 points, while Sassuolo was stuck in 11th position with 13 points, as reported by the official Italian League website.

The match was fierce from the start. Genoa opened the scoring in the 18th minute through Ruslan Malinovskyi.

The Ukrainian midfielder fired hard at the ball from the edge of goalkeeper Arijanet Muric, taking the visitors 1-0 up until the first half was over.

Sassuolo got back early in the second half. Domenico Berardi equalized to 1-1 in the 47th minute with his goal taking advantage of a chance in the penalty box.

The top drama occurred during injury time. Ostigard headed the free kick from Caricol to score Genoa's winning goal. The 2-1 score lasted until the long whistle, ending the match at Mapei Stadium.

Jay Idzes, who is placed as a center-back, started and was irreplaceable throughout the match. However, his performance received the lowest rating between Sassuolo defenders and 6.0 from Fotmob.

Idzes recorded one Take, three sweeps, one intercept, winning two duels in four attempts.
