JAKARTA The sports (sports) that decided to leave with independent funds to the 2025 SEA Games are likely not to get a bonus even though they excel.

Deputy for Sports Achievement Improvement at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Surono, said that they are open to sports with independent funds to go to the biennial event, it's just that bonus issues cannot be guaranteed.

"Especially for independence, I apologize, maybe we will suspend the bonus, but later there will be a National Training Center (national training camp) for the SEA Games or the Asian Games will be promoted," said Surono in Jakarta.

Several sports continue to prepare themselves with independent funds to leave for the 2025 SEA Games. However, their certainty whether they participate or not depends on the results of the review team.

Surono emphasized that in principle only the best athletes will be sent to this biennial event so that even independent sports will continue to follow the review procedure.

"If we have a chance to win a medal there, we will send it. If we don't have a medal opportunity, it is less likely to be dispatched," he said.

In total there are only 48 sports that run a national training camp (pelatnas) with the help of funds from the government, in this case the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora).

The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Erick Thohir, has also confirmed that sports outside may depart with independent funds, but must be tied to an agreement with his party.

"We have talked about the big design of national sports that have promotions and relegation. If later independent, good achievements, the following SEA Games can be promoted. This is what we are trying to harmonize," he said.

The 2025 SEA Games preparation budget increased significantly from IDR 10 billion to IDR 60 billion. This number makes the athletes departing also increase from 120 to around 700 to 800 athletes.

The 2025 SEA Games will take place on December 9-20 in Thailand. A total of 50 sports and 574 match numbers will be contested.
