Dead Collision Of Seagulls In Sprint Race, Signs Bezzecki Will Be Bad Luck In Australian MotoGP?

JAKARTA - Marco Bezzecchi has indeed won the 2025 Australian MotoGP Sprint Race at the Phillip Island Circuit on Saturday, October 18, 2025, western Indonesia time.

However, there was an incident that occurred on the way to the podium. The Aprilian hit a herd of birds until they died during the Sprint Race warm-up session.

Bezzecchi admits he was quite scared when he hit after a herd of birds got on the warm-up lap and didn't know what to do.

Although the incident did not cause any damage to himself or his motorbike, Bezzecchi admitted he was worried it would cause a bigger incident for other riders in the warm-up if he reacted inappropriately.

"Yes, when we started the warm-up round, they also started their warm-up lap. Unfortunately, I definitely hit one because it happened on my bike."

"However, I think I also hit a single in my head. I just realized they grew up when I was so close! Fortunately, nothing was damaged on my bike."

"However, I was quite afraid because I didn't know what to do. I didn't want to brake because I was in front of the group. Maybe I could get hit by someone."

"So, I'm just trying to protect myself and fortunately, everything is fine," he said as quoted by Crash.

Furthermore, Bezzecki didn't realize there was a dead bird attached to his motorbike, but wondered if the collision had broken his motor's wings or not because he felt something in the early rounds.

"I realized it at the end because I felt something in the first round. I had a lot of trouble with the front tire. In my head, a lot of thoughts crossed my mind."

"One of them is maybe my wing broke in this episode. So, when I crossed the finish line, I checked and it turned out that there was one more (dead bird), not the broken one," he said.

The Aprilia rider came from a mistake mid-Sprint Race, which left him one second behind the race leader.

He then shot to win by a difference of more than three seconds.

Sprint Race's victory is the third for Bezzecchi this season. The record left him just eight points behind Francesco Bagnaia who is struggling for third place in the standings.

However, the question now is whether the collision with the bird is a sign that he will be unlucky in the main Australian MotoGP 2025 race on Sunday, October 19, 2025. I don't know.

Collision of fire birds is a common problem on Phillip Island, with the most famous example likely to have occurred 10 years ago, in 2015 to be precise, when Andrea Iannone experienced it while leading the Australian MotoGP race.

To be sure, Bezzecki's condition in the main race will not be fine. The Aprilian had to undergo a double long lap penalty for colliding with Marc Marquez in the 2025 Indonesian MotoGP.
