JAKARTA - Chairman of the All-Indonesian Chess Association (Percasi) DKI Jakarta, Hardiyanto Kenneth, was asked to defend the overall chess title in the National Championships (Kejurnas) next month.
Kenneth was officially inaugurated as Head of Percasi DKI Jakarta for the period 2025-2029 by the General Chairperson of PB Percasi Pusat, GM Utut Adianto, in Jakarta on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. The inauguration was witnessed by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung Wibowo.
Pramono in his speech challenged Kenneth to continue the tradition of DKI Jakarta as the overall champion in the Catur National Championship, which this year took place in Mamuju, West Sulawesi, on November 7'13, 2025.
"I hope that the National Championships in front must remain the overall champion. To Mr. Kenneth and his newly inaugurated friends, I hope this good momentum will continue to be maintained," said Pramono.

In the previous national championship which took place in Jakarta, Percasi DKI Jakarta managed to bring home six gold medals which made them champions.
Kenneth is optimistic that DKI Jakarta will succeed in maintaining this achievement. He even raised the target of getting 10 gold medals out of a total of 17 available gold medals.
"This target is certainly not easy, but we are optimistic because it has a stock of potential young athletes who continue to show extraordinary developments," said the member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD from the PDI-P faction.
Percasi DKI Jakarta will soon hold a working meeting to determine which of the best athletes will be dispatched to Mamuju, West Sulawesi.
The selected athletes will undergo intensive training and careful preparation to be ready for the match.
Head of PB Percasi Pusat, GM Utut Adianto, asked Kenneth to be serious and focused so that he could bring back the Grand Master (GM) from DKI Jakarta.
"Jakarta has been known as a warehouse for national chess athletes. As we witnessed today, there is a nine-year-old child, Zach Alexander Chong, who has become a national champion."
"Hopefully children like this can grow up to become Grand Masters. Therefore, I ask DKI Jakarta Percasi to continue to support and be able to fully facilitate," said Utut.
