JAKARTA The Central Board of the Indonesian Hockey Federation (PP FHI) is committed to pursuing two gold and four silver medals in the 2025 SEA Games which will take place at the end of this year.

The biennial multi-pronged sporting event is scheduled to take place in Thailand on 9-20 December 2025. This is the 33rd edition of the event attended by the Southeast Asian countries.

PP FHI Secretary General, Yasser Arafat Suaidy, said that athletes have been undergoing long preparations since April 2025 to improve sportsmanship achievements.

"From the start, we had targeted hockey to contribute two gold and four silver medals," he said in a statement received by the media.

He continued that the training camp for the Indonesian Hockey National Team which took place since April 2025 was carried out without full assistance from the Government, especially the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora).

"Although we have not received full support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, we still decided to run the national training independently so that preparations run consistently towards targets in Thailand," he said.

Currently, as many as 60 athletes are being prepared to go to Thailand later. They are projected to appear in three numbers, namely indoor hockey, outdoor hockey, and 5s hockey for the men's and women's sectors.

However, of that number, only 34 athletes received financing from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora).

This consists of 12 men's indoor hockey team players and 22 additional athletes according to the Kemenpora review team's decision. The remaining 26 players are still being coached independently by PP FHI.

In total there are six gold medals contested from all the numbers above.

Previously at the 2023 Cambodian SEA Games, the Indonesian Hockey national team brought home one gold medal and three bronze medals. The only gold was obtained from the indoor hockey number and the rest from the hockey field.
