JAKARTA The Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI/NOC Indonesia) has opened its voice regarding the issue of alleged Indonesian badminton athletes involved in match fixing.

President of NOC Indonesia, Raja Sapta Oktohari, said that his party was still prejudiced regarding the allegation that he would try to take a stand.

"In the near future, we will sit down with PBSI and will determine a common attitude. If there is a violation, of course there will be sanctions," said Okto, Raja Sapta Oktohari's nickname.

The alleged match-fixing reportedly involved seven Indonesian badminton athletes. However, until now, it is not certain who is involved.

PBSI as the most authorized party has yet to open its voice in response to the allegation. BWF as the parent of international badminton has also not issued a statement.

Okto said that actually fixing the score did not only occur in badminton, but many other sports (sports). He emphasized the need for strict sanctions if the allegation is proven.

"Of course there must be firmness and it must be an agreement with all stakeholders so that something we don't want like this doesn't happen again," he said.

Previously, the chairman of PB Djarum, Yoppy Rosimin, admitted that his party had heard news about the alleged involvement of a number of athletes in the practice. However, he emphasized that he did not know in detail the identity or truth of the news.

"I don't understand (I don't know) exactly because it's a matter at PBSI. I don't know exactly where it is, but I heard something like that, but I don't know about A or B," said Yoppy.

The World Badminton Federation (BWF) investigative report said the match-fixing practice was carried out for gambling purposes.

There are athletes who are said to have placed bets on behalf of themselves and their colleagues, with matches that have been conditioned.
