Tommy Paulus Elected As GAMMA President

Chairman of the Indonesian Mixed Fighting Association (Pertambami) Tommy Paulus Hermawan was elected as President of the Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA) (doc. Pertambami).

JAKARTA General Chairperson of the Indonesian Mixed Fighting Association (Pertacami), Tommy Paulus Hermawan, was elected as President of the Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA).

Tommy took the new position after getting a unanimous vote at the 2025 GAMMA General Assembly in Bali. He replaced the position previously occupied by Alex Engelhardt.

"I am honored for the trust given and determined to continue the journey towards global recognition and empowerment of athletes," said Tommy in a statement received.

Of the total 58 members who attended the General Assembly, all voted for Tommy so that he automatically led GAMMA for the next three years until 2028.

In his remarks, Tommy emphasized his two main priorities during his tenure as the highest position in the international mixed fighting mother.

First, he will strengthen MMA's legitimacy as a sport recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), through governance, safeguarding, and alignment with Olympic values.

Then the second is to improve the welfare of MMA athletes around the world, including through the construction of the GAMMA Arena as a training and education center to support the development of athletes as well as to show GAMMA's long-term commitment.

"With the reforms passed today and the unity of all members, GAMMA is entering a new era," he said.

The General Assembly also resulted in a number of important breakthroughs to strengthen GAMMA governance, namely the formation of a new position of chairman of the board that was integrated into the executive board.

In addition, the relocation of GAMMA's head office to Switzerland follows the practice of the majority of international federations recognized by the IOC, as well as the creation of a new position of treasurer (treasurer) to strengthen accountability and financial transparency.
