Vinicius Accused Of Lack Of Respect To Opponents In Real Madrid's Victory

Vinicius Junior clashed with Levante captain in Real Madrid (Instagram/@realmadrid) victory.

JAKARTA - Captain Levante, Unai Elgezabal, criticized Vinicius Junior on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, western Indonesia time. He accused the attacker of showing disrespect when Real Madrid won 4-1 in La Liga.

Elgezabal defenders violated Kylian Mbappe and resulted in a penalty in the second half at the Ciutat de Valencia Stadium, which the French player converted to a 3-1 winning goal in the 64th minute.

As Mbappe waited to execute the penalty, Elgezabal clashed with Vinicius. He reacted angrily after the Brazilian spoke to him and placed his hand around the back's neck.

Speaking after the match, Elgezabal was reluctant to explain further about the incident. He said he didn't want to add to the problem.

"When there is a lack of respect for us, the supporters, and the team we represent, we are just human beings, and you have to say that is enough."

"(Vinicius) is clearly a player with a lot of potential. However, I defend and convey values that sometimes mean."

"You have to say it's enough. I don't think it's the right moment. For me, it's not in the right place. That's all, I don't want to exaggerate him more than that," he said.

Vinicius opened the scoring with a spectacular finish using his outer legs in the first half, helping Real Madrid win six wins from six La Liga games this season.

Coach Xabi Alonso praised the striker's contribution as a determinant, while Vinicius admitted the goal was one of the best goals he had ever scored with his outside legs.

Vinicius started this season with inconsistency, crossed out of starting XI by Alonso in two of the team's seven matches in all competitions so far.
