China Masters 2025: Jafar/Felisha Failed To Break Bad Record Against Chen/Toh

JAKARTA Mixed doubles Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu failed to break a bad record against Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei to extend their journey to the 2025 China Masters.

Jafar/Felisha had to lift their suitcases from the Super 750 BWF level tournament due to the defeat of three games against third seed 13-21, 21-13, and 16-21 at Shenzhen Arena, China, on Thursday, September 18, 2025.

"Today again we still can't win from them. In terms of games there is also no significant change from the last meeting. There is still a lot to be improved," said Felishha.

So far, Jafar/Felisha have never won against Malaysia's mixed doubles out of a total of four clashes in the competitive arena. All these defeats occurred this year.

Three other defeats before being here took place at the Indonesia Masters in January, Japan Open in July, and the Badminton World Championship which took place last month.

Of the four defeats, three of them took place in three games. The only direct defeat of the two games occurred in their first clash at Istora Senayan.

"We admit they have good consistency in playing. We are still far from them. How to overcome the pressure in the game too, we must continue to learn," said Felishha.

Jafar/Felisha were the first Indonesian representatives to run aground in the second round of the 2025 China Masters out of a total of seven representatives who managed to penetrate this stage.

Their defeat left Indonesia's mixed doubles Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah who will face the seventh seed hosts Guo Xin Wa/Chen Fang Hui this afternoon.
