Officially Leave Manchester United, Onana Loaned By Trabzonspor

JAKARTA - Goalkeeper Andre Onana officially left Manchester United. He was loaned to Turkish club Trabzonspor for one season of competition.

Onana has finally left Old Trafford. The arrival of goalkeeper Senne Lammens, which is estimated to be the first choice under the MU bar, made Onana choose to leave even though she was only on loan for one season.

The recruitment of Lammens from Royal Yesterday made Onana even more eliminated. Moreover, previously he was no longer the main goalkeeper in the English Premier League competition.

Manager Ruben Amorim prefers to rely on the second goalkeeper Altay Bayindir despite always conceding during Manchester United's first three league games. Onana finally returned to play when MU played in the Carabao Cup.

Ironically against the club from the fourth division alone, Grimsby Town, the Cameroon national team goalkeeper had to fall up. He even made a two-time blunder which all led to goals. Onana's own mistake since joining Manchester United in 2023 has led the club to look for a new goalkeeper.

Onana's performance at the Carabao Cup did fall. During the penalty shootout, Onana was unable to stop 12 of the 13 executions. Only one can be thwarted. It almost came in if the ball didn't hit the post.

With the future at MU looking gloomy, the goalkeeper who was brought in from Inter Milan in 2023 finally left. MU also hopes that Onana will achieve success at a new club.

"Onana has played 50 times last season. Now, the number 24 player has agreed to be borrowed by Trabzonspor," said the official statement from MU.

Meanwhile, Trabzonspor welcomed Onana with joy. In fact, he received an extraordinary welcome from fans as soon as he arrived in Turkey. Onana's presence is believed to boost the team's performance to compete with elite clubs, Galatasaray, Besiktas and Fenerbahce.

"Welcome to your new home, Onana," said Trabzonspor confirmation on X's official account.

Onana joined MU after being recruited from Inter for 47.2 million pounds, two years ago. This made him the third most expensive goalkeeper.

Even though it is expensive, Onana's performance is very bad. The former Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper made more frequent blunders which led to MU experiencing a decline in achievement.

Even in the 2025 Europa League final when Manchester United lost 1-0, Tottenham Hotspur's only goal was inseparable from his mistake.

When the 29-year-old goalkeeper finally left Manchester United, a media outlet in England wrote, "Goodbye Onana, the face of United's bad performance".

During his two years at Old Trafford, Onana has played 102 times in various MU competitions. He also won the 2024 FA Cup.
