WBO Officially Extends Usyk's Negotiations Against Parker

Oleksandr Usyk received an extension of the negotiation time to fight Joseph Parker (Instagram/@usykaa).

JAKARTA The WBO boxing body decided to extend the deadline for mandatory WBO heavyweight negotiations between Oleksandr Usyk and Joseph Parker.

The decision complied with Usyk's request, who previously applied for an extension of the negotiation time because he was not yet in good shape to return to the ring.

WBO decided to fulfill the request, but on condition that the undisputed heavyweight world champion twice from Ukraine had to fight Parker.

However, WBO's decision raises doubts on Parker's side. Parker's promoter, David airing, said they could not do much other than follow the decision.

"We cannot control such a decision. We must be philosophical and the most important thing is to keep fighting and continue to win," he said as quoted by Sky Sport.

However, the duel between Usyk and Parker could not have happened. The reason is, Parker will risk his mandatory position in the duel against Fabio Wardley which will take place on October 25, 2025.

Thus, if Usyk wants to try to defend his world title then he fights the winner Parker versus Wardley. However, that hasn't made it calm yet.

"I don't know (whether Usyk wants to fight the winner). Communications or meetings from the (Usyk) camp are very few. It's hard to say."

"If I have to bet, I'll say he may not want to (fight vs Parker). There is no correspondence to suggest that they want to have that fight",ester said.

Usyk became the undisputed champion for the second time after he defeated Daniel Dubois in July 2025. The result made him managed to keep the record unbeaten.

Usyk won the undisputed world heavyweight title last year thanks to a win over Tyson Fury, who he also managed to beat in a rematch.
