Calvin Verdonk Reaps Praise From President Lille: Experienced And Tough

Calvin Verdonk was officially introduced as a Lille player (doc. LOSC Lille).

JAKARTA - Calvin Verdok officially became part of Ligue 1 club LOSC Lille, after completing a series of long tests. With this new status, Verdok has won praise from the club's president, Olivier Letang.

The president sees Verdok as an experienced figure and a tough defender. The 52-year-old believes Verdonk can quickly adapt to the Ligue 1 team and atmosphere.

"Calvin is a player with a solid experience, able to bring defensive toughness as well as attacking quality on the left."

"With his positive attitude and humanitarian quality, we are sure he will quickly adapt to the team and Ligue 1," said Letang, quoted from the club's official website on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

Letang is also happy that Verdok's arrival will add to the depth of Bruno Genesio's team. Moreover, Les Dogues will not only compete on the domestic stage, but also the Europa League this season.

"The profile thus provides additional options for Bruno and the coaching staff at the start of the season where Lille will face many challenges in domestic and European competitions."

"We are very pleased to welcome Calvin and wish him a warm welcome to the Dogues," he said.

Lille spent three million euros or the equivalent of IDR 57.9 billion to recruit Verdok from NEC Nijmegen. Together with Lille, the left-back signed a three-year contract until June 2028.

With this move, Verdonk also made history as the first Indonesian player to play in France's highest level competition.
