Heavy Test Leo/Bagas At The 2025 World Championship

JAKARTA Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana will be subjected to a tough test in the round of 16 of the 2025 BWF World Championships (BWF World Championships 2025) after going through the first round very easily.

The All England 2025 runners-up only took 31 minutes in their first match in the tournament against Eloi Adam/Leo Rossi with the final results 21-8 and 21-9 at the Adidas Arena, Paris, France, on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

Leo/Bagas appeared very dominant in the first and second games against the host representatives. They started the first game with seven points in a row and did not give the opponent a chance to get closer.

In the second game, the host pair had time to put up a fight in the first four points. However, after a 2-2 draw, Leo/Bagas stepped on the gas and began to leave the opponent.

"The opponent is actually quite good and as the host, but we really keep pressing and don't want to be careless from the start," Leo said after the match.

Leo/Bagas kemudian akan bertemu dengan unggulan pertama asal Korea Selatan, Kim Won-ho/Seu Seung-jae. Pasangan itu ke babak 16 besar usai membukak wakil Singapura, Eng Keat Wesley Koh/Junsuke Kubo.

On paper, Kim/Seo won 1-0 against Leo/Bagas. They only won when they met in the All England final round in March 2025.

"So, we want to avenge the defeat, especially now that they are ranked number one in the world. Of course this will motivate us to perform as well as possible," said Bagas.

Leo/Bagas are the second representatives of Indonesian men's doubles to reach the round of 16. They followed in the footsteps of Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto.

Indonesian men's doubles can still add one ticket if the Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani pair can beat Rasmus Kjaer/Frederik Sogaard from Denmark on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
