Two Persija Players Called To The U-23 Indonesian National Team

JAKARTA - Two young Persija Jakarta players, Doni Tri Pamungkas and Rayhan Hannan, are on Gerald Vanenburg's call list to the U-23 Indonesian national team.

This information was conveyed by Persija coach, Mauricio Souza, after leading the training on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. The coach said PSSI sent a direct letter to the club.

"There are already (calls) and only Doni (Tri Pamungkas) and Rayhan (Hannan) who were summoned to Indonesia U-23," said Souza, quoted on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

Doni Tri and Rayhan Hannan are key players for Garuda Muda under the direction of Gerald Vanenburg. Both have also been the mainstay of the Kemayoran Tiger squad in recent seasons.

Regarding the summons of the two employees, Souza heartfully stated that he would give permission. Doni and Rayhan will also start joining the U-23 Indonesian national team on August 25, 2025, to prepare for the 2026 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification.

Previously, the two players also defended Garuda Muda when appearing in the 2025 AFF U-23 Cup. In the event, Indonesia U-23 came out as runner-up.

The 2026 U-23 Asian Cup qualification will take place at the Gelora Delta Stadium, Sidoarjo, on September 3-9, 2025. In this event, Indonesia is in Group J with South Korea, Laos, and Macau.

Of these three opponents, South Korea will be the toughest opponent and can eliminate Indonesia's U-23 target of qualifying for the final round.
