U-20 Women's Asian Cup Qualification Results 2026: 4-0 Win Over Turkmenistan, Indonesian Women's National Team Runs Aground

JAKARTA - The Indonesian U-20 Women's National Team won 4-0 against Turkmenistan in the 2026 U-20 Women's Asian Cup Qualifiers. However, this result was not enough to pass Garuda Pertiwi Muda to the 2026 U-20 Women's Asian Cup finals.

The Indonesian U-20 Women's National Team faced Turkmenistan in the third match of Group D at the Thuwunna Stadium, Yangon on Sunday, August 10 evening WIB.

In this match, Akira Higashiyama's team hunted for their first victory, so they tried to attack from the early minutes.

This effort bore fruit, because in the 10th minute the Indonesian U-20 Women's National Team managed to break the deadlock. Through Gea Yumanda's header, the score changed to 1-0 for the Red and White Squad.

The score was then doubled when the match entered the 27th minute thanks to a goal from Shipana Rizka Nadhifa. The scoreboard changed to 2-0 after Shipana's kick which the Turkmenistan goalkeeper could actually reach, but the catch was less than perfect until the ball flowed into the net.

Even though they were already two goals ahead, the spirit of the Indonesian U-20 Women's National Team did not decrease. They continued to put pressure on them until the score changed again in the 39th minute.

This 3-0 score was created after Ajeng Sri Handayani beat Muksyutova in a one-on-one duel. This situation then lasted until halftime.

Continuing in the second half, Indonesia could only add goals in the 91st minute through Aulia. The 4-0 victory made Indonesia finish second in Group D with five points from three matches.

Unfortunately, Indonesia cannot qualify for the 2026 U-20 Women's Asian Cup because it does not include the three best runners-up. The ticket belongs to Jordan (Group G), Taiwan (Group C), and Bangladesh (Group H) which have six points.
