Real Madrid Plan Pre-season Match In Austria In August

JAKARTA - Real Madrid will go to Austria to play a pre-season friendly against WSG Tirol in August 2025.

Los Blancos' pre-season plan this year has been reduced due to their involvement in the 2025 Club World Cup.

They played their last match at the 2025 Club World Cup on July 9, 2025, losing 0-4 to Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinals at the MetLife Stadium, New Jersey.

With players legally entitled to a three-week break and Real Madrid's first match in La Liga scheduled for August 19, 2025, it doesn't leave time for traditional pre-season tours.

"Real Madrid will face WSG Tirol on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Tivoli Stadium, Innsbruck (Austria), a stadium with a capacity of 17,000 people."

"The match is scheduled to start at 19.00 local time," said Real Madrid's statement on Friday, August 1, 2025.

On Thursday, July 31, 2025 local time, a judge of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) rejected Real Madrid's request to postpone their first La Liga match - hosting Osasuna in Bernabeu - due to limited time available to prepare for the new season.

Apart from that, WSG Tirol played in the Austrian Bundesliga ( Austria's highest league). They finished in 10th place in the division consisting of 12 teams in the 2024/2025 season, with a record of four wins, seven draws, and 11 defeats.

Meanwhile, new coach Xabi Alonso took over Real Madrid ahead of the 2025 Club World Cup after a disappointing 2024/2025 season where the team failed to win a single trophy.

The 2025 Club World Cup debuted for new players Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen with Los Blancos.

Real Madrid also added new ammunition by signing Alvaro Carreras and Franco Mastantuono this summer.
