JAKARTA - Liverpool have agreed to a deal to sign striker Will Wright from Salford City despite interest from Arsenal.

Wright, who is 17 years old, made his Salford debut at the EFL Trophy against Wolves U-21 in November 2024.

The teenager, who has become a prolific goalscorer at the junior level, then made two appearances in League Two for the 2024/2025 season.

According to ESPN reports, Liverpool will pay an advance fee of 200,000 pounds for the striker, with additional costs also agreed.

Arsenal are also interested in signing Wright, but Liverpool's project appeal and the opportunity to stay in the Northwest convinces the player to choose the Premier League champions.

After completing his move to Liverpool, the player will join the Under-21 team, now coached by former Wales coach Rob Page.

Page's appointment came after the departure of the old academy coach, Barry Lewtas, who handled various age groups for 12 years at the club.
