Fornas VIII 2025 Becomes A Strategy For Sport Tourism Destinations And PON Warming Up

JAKARTA The VIII 2025 National Community Sports Festival (Fornas) is part of a sport tourism destination strategy as well as a warm-up to welcome the 2028 National Sports Week (PON).

The biennial public sports party was officially opened at the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Governor's Office Courtyard on Saturday, July 26, 2025. Various cultural performances were presented on that occasion.

Governor of West Nusa Tenggara Lalu Muhamad Iqbal said that the Fornas VIII 2025 is not only a competition, but also a momentum to care for cultural values, preserve the environment, and build unity.

"Tonight is a historical record for us. Apart from this is the first time Fornas has been held in eastern Indonesia, plus more than eighteen thousand participants from 38 provinces have attended this event. We are honored to welcome them," said Lalu.

The opening of the Fornas VIII was marked by the presentation of the performances of the art and culture performances of Sasak Samawa and Mbojo. Both were packaged so nicely that they produced extraordinary works of art and invited the decak to be amazed by all present.

The opening of the Fornas 2025 was also attended by the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), Member of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) for the NTB electoral district, Deputy Governor Indah Damayanti Putri, and a number of envoys from ASEAN countries.

Then said that the most encouraging thing in the Fornas VIII 2025 was that more than 99 percent of the elements involved were prepared by the sons and daughters of NTB themselves.

"Starting from stage construction, creation dance, thematic design to the thematic production of Fornas songs, everything involves regional sons," he said proudly.

Fornas VIII 2025 brings a spirit of cultural preservation, environmentally friendly activities, and togetherness. Performance arts, typical culinary arts of Sasak, Samawa and Mbojo, and community exhibitions, are proof that people's sports can run in line with culture and ecology.

This year Fornas carries the tagline "Losing Win, Everyone Is Happy". This emphasizes that participation and happiness are at the heart of people's recreational sports.

Preparations that only took three months not only focused on learning from experts, but also made maximum efforts to create the local economic impact so that the people of NTB could feel the direct benefits of this prestigious event.

The involvement of all elements of society in this event is expected to leave sweet memories for the tens of thousands of guests present.

NTB itself will then host the 2028 National Sports Week. They hosted together with East Nusa Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
