Mason Mount Yakin Will Play A Role In Manchester United's New Team

JAKARTA - Mason Mount believes he will win the competition for a place as one of the number 10 players in Ruben Amorim's team and help Manchester United rise from injury to the 2024/2025 season.

After being hit by an injury, Mount was fully fit in time to enter the starting XI when he lost to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final.

Since then, Manchester United have spent 135 million pounds on Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, both of whom have been appointed to appear forward forward in Amorim's 3-4-3 system on pre-season tours.

The Portuguese coach has also played Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo, and Amad Diallo in the same position.

However, Mount insists he is not afraid of this situation and shows confidence in getting a place on the team.

"It's a competition. When you're at a club like Manchester United, there has to be competition there to perform. As a team, we want to win and we're all in it."

"We wanted to appear as a team. We knew last season wasn't good enough. So, it's about continuing to fight. Going forward, the new players who came have performed brilliantly in training so far."

"I will always support myself. I know what I can do."

"However, we are a team and we are all working together on that. Obviously with the new players who come, they will lift us to a higher level. We all have to be at that level," Mount said, speaking in Chicago, as reported by ESPN.

Mount is only fit enough to start in five matches between August 2024 and April 2025, a period that includes a three-month absence from a hamstring injury.

He returned in the final weeks of the season to play a central role in the Amorym team, starting in five of the last six games, including a 0-1 loss to Spurs in the Europa League final in Bilbao - a result that Mount admits continues to air in memory of his summer vacation in Spain.

"It takes time (to forget it). Because as a player, you only think about small things in the game."

"I started the game, so it feels like, what can I do in that situation? Or can I make that pass better?"

"I don't think you think too much of it because you're going to drive yourself crazy, see a lot of details, but it hurts and the whole season hurts."

"This is a new sheet now. We can't wait to perform. The first game of the season was a great opportunity for us to do that," Mount said.

Like Mount, Amorism really wants to emphasize that this is a new beginning.

Cunha and Mbeumo have provided a new look for the squad, while players who are not included in the plan, including Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and badminton Malacia, have been left or not on a pre-season tour to the United States.

Manchester United want to bounce back from their worst season in 50 years. After finishing in 15th place in the 2024/2025 Premier League, Mount is targeting to return to the European tournament as soon as possible.

"We obviously want to return to Europe. I think it's a very important thing for the club. I think that's the focus."

"We know how difficult it is now in the Premier League. There are so many teams that are clearly investing and playing football very well at this time."

"Since the first day of pre-season, it's all about standards and details in practice, obviously on and off the pitch. It really focuses on us as a team and what we need to do to get better and perform."

"(Amorim) is very concerned about the details, the small increase on and off the field. He is very, very influential in that regard."

"As a team, we know what we need to do in that area and are trying to really improve it as a team because we need to perform as well as possible."

"We haven't analyzed much last season. We saw some areas we could improve on, but this is a new season."

"This is a new season for us and it feels like removing everything that has happened. Entering this season with different attitudes and feelings. We are ready to get started," said Mount again.
