Ter Stegen Goalkeeper Resistance Ahead Of Back Operation, Barcelona Is Furious

JAKARTA - Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen said he would undergo back surgery which resulted in him having to rest for three months. Ter Stegen's statement was a form of resistance that angered Barca.

There is nothing strange about Ter Stegen's statement that he will soon undergo surgery. Back injury forced him to pull over again.

Previously, the German national team's number one goalkeeper suffered a back injury. As a result of his injury, Ter Stegen had to go up to the operating table and eventually undergo a seven-month recovery. He just returned to play towards the end of the competition.

Now that the Spanish La Liga competition has not yet rolled, he is injured again. Even Ter Stegen again had to undergo surgery and could not return to standing under the bar for the next three months.

"This time, the doctor believes I only need three months to really recover. This is to avoid the risk of getting injured again," Ter Stegen said on his Instagram account.

"It's really disappointing because I couldn't support the team during that period. Luckily the rehabilitation process can be handled and the chances of returning are certain," said the goalkeeper who has won La Liga six times and the Champions League once since joining Barca in 2014.

Ter Stegen's statement did seem normal. Barca was not worried that the captain of this team was absent for a long time. The reason is, coach Hansi Flick no longer relies on Ter Stegen and even his position has slumped to become the third goalkeeper.

This means that Ter Stegen is only the cover for Joan Garcia bought from Espanyol. Garcia will stand under the bar.

Followed by Wojciech Szczesny who received a contract extension after appearing impressive when replacing Ter Stegen and bringing Barca to win La Liga.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Inaki Pena, who last season failed to replace Szczesny, will be eliminated and possibly sold by Barca.

However, Ter Stegen's statement was able to inflame the club. How not, the club failed to divert Ter Stegen's salary for the registration fees of two new players, Garcia and Marcus Rashford.

So if there are players who are long injured, the salary will certainly not be paid in full. In Ter Stegen's case, the club has the right to cut its salary by up to 80% and the funds can be used to complete the administration of the two new players.

However, cutting the salaries of injured players can only be done if the person concerned has to be sidelined for a minimum of four months.

On the other hand, Barca still has to give Ter Stegen a salary, which ironically hasn't been able to play when the club starts the competition season. Another exit, Ter Stegen's salary is the highest at Barca. This is because he is the most senior player at the club.
