JAKARTA The women's doubles Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi are targeted to reach the semifinals of the 2025 China Open which will take place this week.

The Super 1000 BWF level tournament will be held on July 22-27, 2025 at the Changzhou Olympic Sports Center.

Febriana/Amallia are the only Indonesian women's doubles to play in the event.

"I am targeting the semifinals for Febriana/Amallia at the 2025 China Open. I hope they can play freely and bring out all their abilities," said women's doubles coach Karel Mainaky.

Febriana/Amallia previously appeared at the Japan Open 2025 last week. In the tournament, their journey ran aground in the second half.

Their steps took place at that stage after losing against seventh seed from South Korea, Kim Hye-jeong/Kong Hee-yong.

"Seeing Ana/Tiwi's performance at the Japan Open 2025 yesterday in a pattern of play, fighting power and stamina are good enough. It's just a belief that must be added, there are still doubts when entering the crucial phase," said Karel.

Febriana/Amallia became the sole representative of Indonesian women's doubles in China because the pair Lanny Tria Mayasari/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti were withdrawn.

The decision was made by the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) because Fadia was sick. The condition of the PB Djarum fostered athlete dropped ahead of the match of the quarter-finals of the Japan Open 2025.

The absence of Lanny/Fadia made Indonesia only have 12 representatives in China. In addition to women's doubles, Indonesia also sent three men's singles, two women's singles, three men's doubles, and three mixed doubles.
