Welcoming Super League 2025/2026, PSSI Increases Referee: Brings FIFA Technical Notification

JAKARTA - The 2025/2026 Super League season will start on August 8, 2025. Ahead of that, PSSI increased the quality of referees by bringing in FIFA licensed instructors and organizing FIFA MA Course Super League.

Taking place in Bogor, West Java, on July 12' 16 2025, this agenda was followed by 31 referees and 46 assistant referees who were selected based on their performance during last season.

According to Yoshimi Ogawa, as Deputy of the PSSI Referee Committee, there was an increase in substance compared to the previous year.

One of them, a special session with Subkhiddin Mohd Salleh, who is a FIFA technical instructor, who helped guide the referee until the semifinals of the 2025 Club World Cup.

This session provides direct insight into the standards and expectations of referees in the global arena, which is now a reference in the implementation of the Super League.

"This date's curve is an important foundation for creating a more disciplined and high-quality referee."

"We want every decision-making on the ground to have international standards," said Yoshimi Ogawa in Jakarta, quoted from PSSI's official release on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

Through this training, PSSI believes that the referees will show a significant increase, both technically and mentally. Ogawa also conveyed a positive evaluation of the development of Indonesian referees.

"Although individual mistakes are still happening, we see a change in attitude. They are now able to discipline themselves."

"This is great progress. With the spirit of self-discipline, everything is possible, we believe the quality of the refereeing will be stronger," he said.
