Viktor Gyokeres: Ruben Amorim's Tactics Are Very Suitable For Me

JAKARTA - Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres said the style of play under his former coach, Ruben Amorim, was very suitable.

Gyokeres, which is one of Arsenal's main targets in the transfer market, thrived under the Amorism system while still together in Sporting. The Portuguese coach left Sporting in November 2024 to join Manchester United.

"The playing style we have below is perfect for me," Gyökeres told France Football.

Gyokeres admits he was surprised to leave Sporting mid-season ago with a team at the top of the league standings and still have the opportunity to play in the Champions League.

"It was shocking. I've never seen the coach leave in the middle of a season when things were going so well. No hurt."

"Yes, it was shocking, but I fully understand his decision," said Gyokeres.

Gyokeres, 27, is expected to leave Sporting CP this summer with the Premier League most likely to be its goal.
