New AC Milan Coach Leaks When Modric's Wounds Get Closer

JAKARTA - Massimiliano Allegri revealed when Luka Modric could start joining the San Siro. The new coach said Modric would arrive on August 25, 2025.

In the 2025 summer transfer market, the Rossoneri are indeed aggressively hunting for new players to strengthen the squad. Their main focus is fixing the midfielder sector after the departure of Tijjani Reijnders to Manchester City.

Although the agreement has been reached, Modric will not immediately join AC Milan in the near future. Currently, the 39-year-old midfielder is still focused on strengthening Real Madrid at the 2025 Club World Cup.

Massimiliano Allegri also gave an update on Modric's situation. He said the new player would arrive in Milan in August 2025 to start his new adventure in Serie A.

"We are waiting for his arrival, he will arrive in August 2025. He is an important and extraordinary player," Allegri said as quoted by MilanNews on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.

In the process of strengthening midfield, AC Milan explored various midfield options that matched Allegri's philosophy. Some names were on the radar, but Luka Modric became the most prominent figure on the list.

The Croatian player will part with Real Madrid because his contract expires this summer of 2025. The role of Technical Director, Igli Tare, is said to be very crucial in convincing Modric to consider moving to Italy despite reports of interest from other clubs.

Tare was even reported to have flown to Croatia to persuade the senior midfielder. The Rossoneri later convinced Modric to sign a two-season contract with the option of an extension a season.

Meanwhile, regarding his status as a new coach, Massimiliano Allegri has also designed a game scheme for the 2025/2026 season with AC Milan. He plans to use a formation with three midfielders to maintain the team's balance.

The main midfield trio will be inhabited by Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Samuele Ricci, and of course Luka Modric. The combination of experience and young players is the main consideration in the formation.

"We have Ricci, Modric, Loftus-Cheek who are very important players. We also have Fofana, Bondo, and Musah," he said.

"We have some great players. In midfield, we will definitely play with three players, depending on the characteristics of the individuals we will place on the pitch."

"Most importantly, I will try to make them perform as well as possible," said Allegri.
