JAKARTA The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) received a visit from 16 Russian athletes to undergo joint training at the PBSI Cipayung National Training Center, East Jakarta.

This exercise will last for two weeks, 8-21 July 2025. This is a follow-up program of a bilateral cooperation agreement between Indonesia and Russia, which includes sports and several other areas.

"I would like to thank PBSI for making this program run. Invite us here to have the opportunity to train with the best players," said Pavel Sorokin, manager of the Russian team.

The first meeting between the two previous countries took place in April 2025 when the Russian delegation came to the PBSI National Training Center to discuss several matters.

Then in June 2025, it was the turn of the General Chairperson of PP PBSI, M. Fadil Imran, along with his staff and several National Training athletes to make a return visit to St. Petersburgh, Russia.

At that time, PBSI Pelatnas athletes had participated in training there for approximately one week.

"The exercises here are very different, where all sectors have their respective coaches. In Russia, we only have one coach for all singles or doubles," said Pavel.

Pavel also hopes that his players can gain the confidence, quality of training, and technique of this program.

"From here we learn a lot and are looking forward to what the next two weeks will look like. I hope our athletes can absorb as much knowledge as possible and bring these memories," he said.

The total number of Russian entourage coming to the PBSI National Training Center was 19 people. They came in two waves, most of which landed on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.

In addition to athletes and team manager Pavel Sorokin, the Russian group also brought two coaches, namely Rodion Kargaev and Viktor Maliutin.
