JAKARTA - PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir stated that the determination of Jakarta as the center of FIFA regional activities for Southeast Asia and East Asia was not only an achievement of history for Indonesia, but also for the entire region.

This was revealed by Erick after being with FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, signing the Host Country Agreement (HCA) in the context of establishing the FIFA Hub at the FIFA Jakarta office which was held at the FIFA Executive Football Summit 2025 which took place in Miami, United States, Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

This agreement completes the HCA which was previously signed in November 2023. After the HCA in Miami, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia will legally inaugurate this agreement through the formal ratification of three parties.

"This is a historic day for Indonesia and Asia for their trust in us and countries in Asia whose football continues to advance."

"With this latest HCA, the FIFA Hub in Jakarta is not only for Indonesia, but also the center for Southeast Asia and East Asia which includes 21 member associations," said Erick Thohir.

The chairman of PSSI added that the increase in FIFA Hub status in Jakarta would make his role much bigger than just supporting Indonesian football, but Asia as a whole.

This is in line with President FIFA's belief that football's growth should not only occur in one area, but must be evenly distributed throughout the world.

In addition to signing HCA, Erick expressed his appreciation for Gianni Infantino for the progress that PSSI has made in the last two years.

"When I met him, I conveyed the developments we have made in Indonesia. The President of FIFA is happy with the progress because Indonesia previously faced many problems."

"Thanks to FIFA's support and PSSI's hard work, progress has been achieved, including the achievements of the Indonesian national team which are increasingly positive," he said.

Meanwhile, Infantino said that the establishment of the FIFA office in Jakarta was part of their long-term commitment to football growth in Southeast and East Asia.

"Today is a historic day for Indonesian football and the future of Asian football because we are taking a big step towards expanding FIFA's presence in this area through our office in Jakarta," said Erick.

Previously, also in Miami, PSSI received the FIFA Forward Gold Award, a prestigious award for FIFA member associations in the Asian region.

The award was given because PSSI was effective in building the PSSI National Training Center in the Capital State of the Archipelago (IKN) through the FIFA Forward program with funding of 5.4 million US dollars.
