Ester Withdrawn From Indonesia Open 2025, This Is The Cause

JAKARTA The women's singles badminton player Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo was withdrawn by the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) from the Indonesia Open 2025 which will take place at the beginning of tomorrow month.

Head of Women's Singles Coach for National Training Center (Pelatnas) PBSI Imam Tohari confirmed the information in an official statement received by the media on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.

"Ester was withdrawn from the Indonesia Open 2025 because her injury had relapsed while competing at the Taipei Open," said Imam in a statement.

Ester, who has missed many tournaments this year due to injury, played her first competition since March in Taipei and got less than a maximum result.

He immediately ran aground in the first half because he lost badly against Thailand's women's singles, Pitchamon Opatniputh. Before that, when he appeared at the Ruichang China Masters he was able to reach the semifinals.

Imam memastikan bahwa kondisi Ester sudah membaik, tetapi ia tidak memiliki banyak waktu untuk mendapatkan kondisi terbaik demi bermain di kandang sendiri di Istora Senayan.

"The current condition has no complaints and recovery is going well, only time to train is not enough for Ester to appear at the Indonesia Open 2025," he said.

Ester added to the list of Indonesian women's singles who missed the Banger 1000 BWF tournament. Previously, PBSI had confirmed that Gregoria Mariska Tunjung was also unable to appear.

The absence of the two names above makes Indonesia only hope for Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi and Putri Kusuma Wardani. Both names are on the current temporary list.

The Indonesia Open 2025 will take place on June 3-8, 2025. As the host, Indonesia will try to end its title drought since Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon in 2021.
