Bring Napoli To The Italian League Champion, Conte Reveals The Heavy Struggle

JAKARTA - Napoli's success in winning the 2024/25 Italian League title was admitted by coach Antonio Conte as the most difficult and challenging experience during his career as a coach.

"It was of course the most unexpected, difficult, and exciting challenge in my career," Conte told Football Italia, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, May 24.

"Come to Napoli after they are in 10th position and try to get things back on track, like the previous season, and convince some of the best players to stay because we can do something positive."

Conte is now one of two coaches to win the Italian League title with three different clubs, following in Fabio Capello's footsteps after winning him with Juventus, Inter Milan, and Napoli.

Conte explained that his trip to Napoli did not start easily because it started with a goalless draw against Modena in the Italian Cup, then lost 0-3 to Hellas Verona in the Italian League.

The Italian coach said Napoli's success in winning the Italian League title was ultimately an extraordinary achievement.

"To be honest, it's very difficult to win at Napoli. For these players, winning twice in three years means there's something special here, so I'm happy for the players," Conte said.

"More than 30 years ago, Diego Armando Maradona won the title, now Giovanni Di Lorenzo as captain lifts the trophy again with the captain's armband, that's special," he added.

"I repeat, it is not an easy situation, because you are not at a club that has systematically played to win from the start," he concluded.

Napoli confirmed their fourth Italian League title in history after beating Cagliari 2-0 in the 38th week at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, Naples, Saturday morning WIB.

Il Partenopei has the right to win the title after ranking first in the Italian League standings with 82 points from 38 matches, just one point ahead of Inter Milan in second place.
