Palace Reveals the Reason for Prabowo to Choose Destry for BI Governor

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto chose Destry Damayanti for the position of Governor of Bank Indonesia by considering his track record and competence in the field of finance.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said Destry's experience in the financial sector for decades was one of the main considerations of the President.

"What is certain is his track record. From science, to graduate, to devoting himself to the financial sector for several decades," said Prasetyo at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 12.

Destry has also held the position of Senior Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia for two periods.

"He also served two terms as Senior Deputy Governor. That is one of the most fundamental reasons, of course, competence," said Prasetyo.

However, Prasetyo was reluctant to reveal the name proposed to fill the position of Senior Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia.

When asked whether Aida S. Budiman or Solikin M. Juhro were on the list of candidates, Prasetyo asked reporters to wait for an announcement from the DPR.

"We wait for the DPR to convey. I have promised not to convey," he said.
