JAKARTA Former Serbian world number one, Novak Djokovic, has officially decided to part ways with his coach, Andy Murray, after about six months of working together.

The decision, which is said to be a mutual agreement, means Murray is no longer on the side of the pitch as Djokovic attempted to pursue his eighth Wimbledon title in July 2025.

"Thank you, coach Andy, for all the hard work, pleasure, and support over the past six months on and off the pitch."

"I really enjoy deepening our friendship together," Djokovic said.

Djokovic, 24-time Grand Slam champion, joined Murray in November 2024. Under Murray's tutelage, the 37-year-old managed to reach the semifinals of the Australian Open 2025.

Djokovic is going through a difficult season with high standards. He lost his first game in four of the last five tournaments.

In addition, he also lost in the 2025 Miami Open final against 19-year-old Jakub Mensik. Djokovic then reached the final without losing a set before losing in two tight tie-breakers.

"Thanks to Novak for the incredible opportunity to work together. I wish Novak all the best for the rest of the season," Murray said.

Djokovic will receive a wildcard at the Geneva Open next week after failing to win matches this year on clay.

The three-time French Open champion was defeated in the first round of the Monte Carlo Masters 2025 when clay tournaments began and missed at the Italian Open 2025 this month without giving a clear reason.
