The International Olympic Committee (IOC) asked the Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia) to form a new boxing federation after the Indonesian Amateur Boxing Association (Pertina) refused to separate from its parent International Boxing Association (IBA).

"It seems that Pertina is not willing to change the parent organization of its international organization. The IOC asks NOC Indonesia to create a new federation," said Dito.
Pertina had previously been officially expelled from Indonesia's NOC members after the IOC issued an order asking all NOCs around the world to release its affiliates with the boxing federation.

This order follows a dispute between the IOC and the IBA that has been going on since 2019. The problem made the IOC recorded having to take over boxing in the last two Olympics.
IBA was suspended as an international sporting governing body for having problems with governance, finance, referees, and ethics. The agency was later revoked by the IOC in June 2023.
The Minister of Youth and Sports said that as long as there was no new boxing federation, preparations for Indonesian boxing athletes for various competitions were under the control of NOC Indonesia.
"Meanwhile, NOC Indonesia is responsible for that and I will ask for reports regularly. For the SEA Games, the Ministry of Youth and Sports will carry out self-management with table tennis and rock climbing," said Dito.
Dito also confirmed that there had been a communication process between NOC Indonesia and Pertina before the federation was issued. This denies the statement of Pertina Chairman Komaruddin Simanjuntak.
Komaruddin previously stated that the decision of NOC Indonesia to issue Pertina from membership status was carried out suddenly which shocked many parties in national boxing.
