Inter Milan Vs AS Roma Prediction: Nerazzurri Wants To Return To The Champions Line

JAKARTA - Inter Milan will try to restore their winning path in Serie A when they host AS Roma on Sunday evening, April 27. Currently, Inter and Napoli are both collecting 71 points at the top of the standings, but the recent Nerazzurri performance trend is of great concern.

After defeating Bayern Munich to ensure a Champions League semi-final ticket against Barcelona, Inter began to run out of power at the domestic level. They suffered a dramatic defeat to Bologna in Serie A before being eliminated by city rivals AC Milan, in the Coppa Italia semifinals with a 4-1 aggregate. A 3-0 defeat to Milan in the middle of the week was the second straight defeat to Simone Inzaghi's men, something that last happened two years ago.

Apart from breaking a lot of goals, Inter now have to face heavy pressure in the hunt for the Scudetto. They can no longer make mistakes if they want to defend their title. However, the record of meetings against Roma could be a source of optimism: Inter have won three of the last four home games against the Giallorossi, and could have recorded five consecutive wins over Roma in Serie A for the first time since 1978.

Meanwhile, Roma came to San Siro with high confidence. Under the tutelage of Claudio Ranieri, who is back in charge of his boyhood club for the third time, Roma has had 17 Serie A matches without defeat since last December, with 12 wins among them. They are now only three points away from the Champions League zone.

Despite the history of the meeting, Roma have only won once in their last 15 meetings against Inter, their performance in 2025 is impressive, even better than Inter. The Giallorossi also just beat Hellas Verona last week after drawing in Derby della Capitale.

Inter Milan had to re-rotate their squad due to a busy schedule, with the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona waiting for next week. Denzel Dumfries and Piotr Zielinski have returned to training, but Inter have lost Alessandro Bastoni and Henrikh Mkhitaryan due to a one-match suspension. Striker Marcus Thuram is also doubtful about appearing due to fitness issues.

Instead, Joaquin Correa, Marko Arnautovic, or Mehdi Taremi have the opportunity to accompany Lautaro Martinez on the front lines. If Matteo Darmian is rested, a loan player from Rome, Nicola Zalewski, could start in a wing-back position. Yann Sommer is also expected to return to guard the goal to replace Josep Martinez, while Hakan Calhanoglu is ready to take over the midfield from Kristjan Asllani.

In the Roma camp, Claudio Ranieri is likely to keep a more stable team line. Only Paulo Dybala and defender Victor Nelsson are confirmed to be absent. Eldor Shomurudov, the winner's goal scorer against Verona, had to compete with Artem Dovbyk to lead the attack line. Captain Lorenzo Pellegrini himself has fully recovered from a shoulder injury.

Even though Inter are declining, their experience in big matches and the record of the very dominant meeting over Roma can be key. However, with Roma's impressive performance under Ranieri, this match is predicted to be tight. Inter remain favorite, but not easy.
