Real Madrid Supporter Amazed Mbappe When He Comes Out Of Injury

JAKARTA - Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe suffered an ankle injury when Real Madrid lost 1-2 to Arsenal in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, Thursday, April 17, 2025, early morning WIB, at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, he was ridiculed by some of the audience when he left the field after his less excited appearance.

Mbappe, who is still looking for his first Champions League title, had to be replaced by Brahim Diaz in the 75th minute after his right ankle sprained.

Most fans at the Bernabeu ridiculed the French star when the change was announced. He was able to walk alone from the pitch, but slightly limped. The club did not immediately release details about the extent of the injury.

The injury occurred 10 days before the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona in Sevilla.

Mbappe, who has not scored in five games in all competitions, has not had a single effort to hit the target in the match against Arsenal.

He was involved in a possible penalty that benefited Real Madrid in the 23rd minute, but a video review finally overturned the referee's decision that he was detained by Declan Rice in the penalty area.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois said the good Arsenal defense made Mbappe and his team-mate in attack, Vinicius Junior, even more difficult.

"Sometimes you have to be critical of yourself and see everything carefully. I feel we are a team, but maybe we need to do more team moves and not too much individual movement."

"If you escort two Vini or Mbappe players, you can qualify once, but it's hard to do more than that," Courtois said.

This is the first time since 2020 that Real Madrid have failed to reach the top four of the Champions League.

Arsenal advanced 5-1 on aggregate after winning 3-0 last week in London.

Meanwhile, Mbappe spent his first season with Real Madrid. He also never won the Champions League while playing with Paris Saint-Germain, which Arsenal will face in the semifinals.
