Marc Marquez Calls Two KTM Racers Can Threaten Ducati's Dominance In COTA

JAKARTA - Marc Marquez said the duo KTM, Pedrodecas and Maverick Vinales, could threaten Ducati's dominance in the 2025 American MotoGP.

Currently, Marc Marquez dominates the standings with perfect points from the two series he has played. He won the Sprint Race and the main race in the MotoGP Thailand and Argentina 2025.

The top four of the standings still belong to Ducati. Under Marc Marquez, there are Alex Marquez, Francesco Bagnaia, and Franco Morbidelli.

At the 2025 American MotoGP Free Exercise (FP1) session, Friday, March 28, 2025, WIB night, Ducati also controlled the top five at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) which had rained.

Although another Ducati manufacturer, Francesco Bagnaia, only ended FP1 in 10th place, Ducati has again become a favorite in the United States.

However, Marc Marquez warned KTM riders Pedrodecana and Maverick Vinales as potential threats in COTA.

Vinales beat Askosta, who was still a newcomer to last season's COTA win while racing for Aprilia.

When he returned to COTA, Vinales enjoyed his best session with RC16 by taking eighth place in FP1, just behind Askosta.

"Tomorrow we will see more reality. I'm sure Asko and Vinales can compete fiercely because here many stop-and-go and KTM bends are good there, especially in acceleration from first teeth, they are very fast."

"So, I hope that Vinales and Askosta are strong. The rest, as we can see, all of Ducati will be in the top position," Marquez said as quoted by Crash.

Marquez - who will try to extend his unbeaten record as Ducati Lenovo rider to five consecutive times - rose from a wet trail in the morning to claim the top position with a difference of more than 0.7 seconds in the afternoon in FP1.

"I made a mistake when it wasn't time to make such a mistake on the first lap of FP1."

"However, that could happen. With extra confidence, I drove on the track and drove like there was no water."

"Then, there was a lot of water in that corner and I had a lot of aquaplanting," said Marquez.

The slippery tires then appeared in the middle of the afternoon.

"I feel fine with slippery tires, but (0.7 seconds) is not the real distance because tomorrow things will be tighter. However, it's good to get started," he said.

Marquez not only won every race so far this year, but he also beat his younger brother Alex for both pole positions.

Meanwhile, the 2025 American MotoGP Qualification will begin on Saturday, March 29, 2025, WIB night then continued with the Sprint Race on Sunday, March 30, 2025 in the morning WIB.
