PSSI Leaves The Indonesian National Team To Leave For Australia

PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir released Indonesian national team players to go to Australia for the 2026 World Cup Qualification (DOK PSSI)

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team player officially left for Australia on Sunday, March 16 evening WIB. Directly attended by the General Chairperson (Ketum) of PSSI, Erick Thohir, the release of the Garuda Squad from Jakarta to resume the struggle in the 2026 World Cup Qualification.

In March, the Indonesian national team will undergo two follow-up matches in the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification group. The first match is an away match to Australia (20 March) followed by a home match against Bahrain (25 March) in Jakarta.

To continue the struggle in Australia, Patrick Kluivert as coach of the Indonesian national team has confirmed 23 names to be brought up against The Socceroos. However, there are only eight names of players departing this Sunday along with officials and coaches from Jakarta.

They are players from Liga 1 such as Rizky Ridho (Persija), Muhammad Ferari (Persija), Ricky Kambuaya, (Dewa United), Septian Bagaskara (Dewa United), Ernando Ari (Persebaya), Nadeo Argawinata (Borneo FC), Ramadhan Sananta (Persis), and Hokky Caraka (PSS Sleman).

While the rest of the names are players with careers abroad. Given the dynamic schedule of each team, the departure of the abroad player is adjusted.

Even so, Erick Thohir stated that ahead of departure to Australia the players were in good condition. He also hopes that the preparations for the Garuda Squad can run optimally.

"Bismillah, I am releasing today's players and coaching team to ensure maximum preparation. The preparation of the players as well as our officials so that the departure and arrival of the players can be good," said Erick Thohir in his press statement.

No one was injured. The strategy of all squads towards Sydney is also good. We'll see hopefully everything goes well when competing," he continued.

For players who do not defend clubs in Indonesia, they all immediately fly to Australia. Later the players will gather to return to their final preparations.
