JAKARTA - Putri Kusuma Wardani has repatriated eighth seed Supanida Katethong from Thailand to secure tickets for the second round of the All England 2025.

Putri sealed the victory convincingly in two straight games 21-13 and 21-11 at Utilita Arena, Birmingham, England, on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, WIB night.

This is Putri's first win over Supanida from a total of three of their meetings. She previously lost at the 2024 Badminton Asia Team Championship and the 2024 Arctic Open.

"Alhamdulillah, I was able to win today's match. From a game point of view, I was better prepared to anticipate the fast ball of the opponent because it was the weapon that allowed him to beat me at the Arctic Open," said Putri.

This victory is special for Putri. The reason is, this is her debut in the world's oldest event. In 2023 she was on the waiting list, but failed to play because no badminton player resigned.

Putri is one of three Indonesian representatives who made their debut in All England 2025. The other two are the women's doubles Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi and the men's doubles Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani.

"I'm very happy to finally be able to play in All England because almost all of the players who have dropped are ranked 1-32," he said.

Apart from Putri, tickets for the second half have also been secured by Febriana/Amallia and Jonatan Christie's men's singles, who are the defending champions in this tournament.

In the women's singles number, Indonesia also sent Gregoria Mariska Tunjung. The 2017 junior world champion will only play on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, against Canadian women's singles, Michelle Li.
