Take The Oath Of Indonesian Citizen Dean James, Emil Audero, And Joey Pelupessy Performed In Italy

The Minister of Law, Supratman Andi Agtas, has scheduled the oath-taking of Indonesian citizens for three naturalized players (doc. Ministry of Law).

JAKARTA - The naturalization of Dean James, Emil Audero, and Joey Pelupessy is still continuing. In fact, they are scheduled to take the oath of Indonesian citizens (WNI) as the final process to be held in Italy.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Law, Supratman Andi Agtas. He will send a team of Secretary General and Director General of General Legal Administration (AHU) to go to Italy on Thursday, March 6, 2025.

The plan is that the Ministry of Law will take the oath of the three naturalized players at the Indonesian Embassy in Rome on March 10, 2025.

"We from the Ministry of Law help accelerate this process with the hope that the three players will immediately strengthen the Garuda Squad against the 2026 Asian Zone World Cup Qualification," Supratman Andi Agtas said in an official statement received Thursday, March 6, 2025.

This acceleration was carried out because it was stated that all the citizenship documents of the three players had been properly investigated and the transfer process was also carried out in accordance with the provisions of the applicable law.

The accelerated Indonesian oath-taking will be held in Rome. The reason is, Emil, Joey, and Dean are playing at clubs competing in Italy or Europe.

"The state needs their energy to be immediately included in the Indonesian national team's list of players. So, we will help accelerate the taking of the oath so that they can officially use Indonesian passports," said Supratman.

After taking the oath to become Indonesian citizens, Dean, Emil, and Joey will be registered by PSSI to FIFA. As FIFA rules, players can be registered before March 13, 2025.

"We hope that the PSSI team under the leadership of Erick Thohir will not experience any problems in the follow-up process of registering three naturalized players with FIFA," said Supratman.

In March 2025, the Indonesian national team will soon continue the 2026 World Cup Qualification match in the Asian Zone. The Garuda squad will face Australia on March 20, 2025 and host Bahrain at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium on March 25, 2025.
