In The Aftermath Of Chaos In The Match Against Persijap, Persela Management Who Is Responsible

JAKARTA - Persela Lamongan's match against Persijap Jepara was marked by chaos towards the end of the second half. Persela Lamongan's management stated that they were ready to take responsibility for the damage to the Tuban Sport Center Stadium.

The two teams met in the last eight of Liga 2 2024/2025 on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. However, the match was not finished because in the 79th minute the host supporters attacked the field and vandalized the facilities.

For this incident, Persela Lamongan's management admitted that they were ready to take responsibility and receive sanctions. Persela's President, Fariz Julinar Maurisal, said the management was ready to compensate for all the damage in the aftermath of the riots that occurred.

"Certainly we will be responsible," Fariz said in a statement quoted on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

On the same occasion, Fariz also said that the trigger for the breakdown of this incident was due to the high hopes of the supporters for the team's performance which should have performed optimally.

"Maybe (the cause of the chaos was due to) the disappointment of supporters with high hopes of qualifying for League 1."

"The team management also has the same hopes, but it is not yet sustenance," he said.

Fariz said he had also complied with the pressure of supporters who asked Wafa Amri to be fired from management.

"Actually, when I was in the middle of the preliminary round, I also met with supporters, I was committed to them."

"If supporters ask Amri to leave, yes, he is no longer involved in the team," he said.

Previously, it was known that the match was held at the Tuban Sport Center Stadium because it became Persela Lamongan's temporary homebase. Because their main home, Surajaya Lamongan Stadium, is being renovated.
