JAKARTA A proud achievement came from Indonesian taekwondo athlete, Teuku Zio. Competing at the 2025 Kasal Cup II International Taekwondo Championship, Zio who represented the Red and White successfully won a gold medal on the highest podium.
Teuku Zio, who is the son of actor Teuku Zacky, dropped in the Men's 55 kg Junior Under class. Representing the Global Taekwondo Academy (GTA) team, he managed to get through four matches before making sure he won the final match.
Teuku Zio's impressive appearance received appreciation from the coach, Ong Stevanus. He considered that Zio was a talented young athlete who had the potential to bring Indonesia's name to shine in the international arena.
"(Teuku) Zio is classified as a potential young athlete who can achieve more achievements in the future, both at the national and international levels," said Ong in an official statement received on Sunday, February 16.
In addition to Teuku Zio's success in winning gold, the Global Taekwondo Academy team also sent two other athletes to compete in this event.
"I'm quite satisfied with today's results. Our team, the Global Taekwondo Academy (GTA), sent one achievement athlete and two beginner athletes in this Kasal Cup II championship," Ong continued.
The 2025 CASAL CUP II Taekwondo Championship taekwondo Championship will take place at GOR Purna Krida, Badung, Bali, on February 14-16. This event was held to support the government and leadership programs of the Indonesian Navy in the field of sports and to increase the enthusiasm and achievements of Indonesian taekwondo athletes ahead of the 2025 SEA Games.
