JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) Gibran Rakabuming Raka emphasized the importance of coaching young athletes for the advancement of Indonesian sports, including football.

Based on the official statement received on Tuesday, January 28, Gibran said this was in line with President Prabowo Subianto's vision which places the development of sports as one of the priorities in creating a nation that is tough and competitive.

Vice President Gibran witnessed the U-20 Indonesian national team match against Syria in the continuation of the Mandiri U-20 Challenge Series 2025 at the Gelora Delta Stadium, Sidoarjo, East Java (East Java), Monday, January 27 evening, quoted from Antara.

The presence of the Vice President in the stands is not only a moral support for the Garuda Muda squad, but also part of the government's efforts to realize President Prabowo's mission to encourage the revival of national sports, including football.

The match against Syria on Monday, January 27 evening, is an important input for the government which continues to improve PSSI's performance in facing future matches to be better.

The 2025 U-20 Challenge Series Mandiri event is an international soccer tournament organized by PSSI on January 24 to 30, 2025 at the Gelora Delta Stadium, Sidoarjo.

This tournament was attended by four U-20 national teams, namely Indonesia, Syria, Jordan and India.

As a preparation event for the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup in China from February 12 to March 1, 2025, this tournament is a valuable opportunity for Indonesian, Syrian and Jordanian players who were born in 2005 on average to hone their abilities and build team cohesiveness.

Meanwhile, India chose to field the younger squad with players born in 2007 and 2008 as part of preparations for the SAFF U-19 Championship which is scheduled to take place in May 2025.
