Indonesia Masters 2025: Jonathan To Quarter Finals

Jonathan Christie advanced to the quarter-finals of the Indonesia Masters 2025 (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA The men's singles badminton player Jonatan Christie secured a dramatic victory to reach the quarter-finals of the Indonesia Masters 2025.

He secured the second ticket for Indonesia after defeating China Taipei's singles, Lin Chun Yi, with the final score 21-9, 10-21, and 21-15, at Istora Senayan, on Thursday, January 23, 2025.

"All of them are happy and grateful to be able to change the strategy and pattern to win the match," Jonatan said after the match.

The 2018 Asian Games gold medalist is the only remaining men's singles in the tournament after Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo ran aground in the first half on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

Jonathan was one of the three Indonesian representatives targeted to win this event with Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.

"I will try my best regardless of any results. I want to show my best. I am optimistic to try my best, that's for sure," he said.

Before Jonathan, Indonesia had received one ticket for the quarter-finals through the mixed doubles pair Rinov Rivaldy/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati.

Meanwhile, representatives of Indonesia who had picked up their suitcases in the second half were Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin, Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu, and Marwan Faza/Aisyah Salsabila Putri Pranata.
