JAKARTA Former British heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury officially announced his retirement from boxing.

Fury last fought Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch in December 2024 for the WBA (Super), WBC, and WBO championship belts. He also lost the duel.

"Hey everyone, I'm going to make this short and sweet. I want to announce my resignation from boxing."

"It's really fun. I really like it every minute and I'm going to end it with this: Dick Turpin is wearing a mask," Fury was quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

36-year-old Fury previously announced his retirement after defeating Dillian Whyte in April 2022. However, he then returned to fight six months later.

Throughout his career, Fury enjoyed two times being heavyweight champion. He is recorded as having a record of 34 wins, two defeats, and one draw.

The boxer nicknamed Gypsy King once surprised world champion Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 to win WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO, and The Ring heavyweight titles.

Fury was absent for two and a half years due to mental health problems. He then returned to action in 2018 against Sefer Seferi.

After that, he won twice by beating Deontay Wilder to take the WBC belt in 2020 and defend the title the following year.
