Victory Over Arsenal Is Not About Tactics, But Manchester United's Mentality

JAKARTA - Manchester United managed to beat Arsenal in the Third Round of the FA Cup at the Emirates Stadium, Sunday, January 12, 2025.

The Red Devils won 5-3 on penalties after a score of 1-1 to two extra rounds.

Bruno Fernandes opened the visitors' lead before Gabriel Magalhaes after 11 minutes of the second half.

On the sidelines, Diogo Dalot was issued after receiving a second yellow card after hitting Mikel Merino in the 61st minute.

Manchester United could then survive in the remaining time to force the match to continue on penalties.

Ruben Amorim after the match emphasized that the victory was not based on tactics and technicalities, but rather the fighting spirit of his troops.

"Fortunately the players there are struggling. Sometimes what we talk about before the game is not tactics or technical, but this (fight)."

"We have to compete no matter what, whatever the situation we face. We deserved to win, Arsenal didn't deserve to lose, but we deserved to win."

"The way we played, the way we fought was very difficult from the start. We didn't have too much possession of the ball, but we had the ball without the ball," said the Manchester United manager.

Meanwhile, the victory over Arsenal decided five consecutive matches without the Red Devils' victory (four defeats and one draw) in all competitions.

They will next prepare to host Southampton at Old Trafford in the 21st week of the Premier League, 17 January 2025.

Since winning over Manchester City 2-1 on December 15, 2024, The Red Devils have never won again in the Premier League, to be precise four times.
