JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) regrets that there is still discriminatory treatment from the European Union (EU) against sustainable palm oil from Indonesia.

"Regarding environmental cooperation, I regret that there is still discriminatory treatment by the European Union against Indonesian sustainable palm oil," said President Jokowi during a bilateral meeting with Slovenian Prime Minister Janes Jansa on the sidelines of the World Leaders Summit, COP26, Glasgow, Scotland, Monday. , November 1, as stated by the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat, received in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Tuesday, November 2.

President Jokowi hopes that Slovenia will push for the finalization of negotiations on a comprehensive economic partnership agreement between Indonesia and the EU (I-EU CEPA). In addition, President Jokowi also conveyed various issues regarding the environment.

The President also said that efforts to strengthen Indonesia-EU cooperation had been discussed with France as the holder of the next EU presidency and also with the President of the European Council.

In addition, President Jokowi expressed his appreciation to the Prime Minister of Slovenia for his commitment to continue strengthening Indonesia-Slovenia and Indonesia-European Union (EU) relations.

Meanwhile, PM Janes Jansa said that Slovenia paid great attention to Indonesia. "Indonesia has great economic potential, so it is important for the European Union to pay more attention to Indonesia," said PM Janes Jansa.

Also present to accompany President Jokowi at the meeting were Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi and Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya.
