BMKG Issues Early Warning For 17 Regions In East Java, Beware Of Extreme Weather

SURABAYA - Most areas in East Java are starting to rain. Of the 38 regencies/cities, 17 of them are expected to experience extreme weather during the rainy season.

"We have issued early warnings to 17 areas in East Java, which are predicted to experience extreme weather during the rainy season", said Head of Data and Information of the Class I Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Juanda, Teguh Tri Susanto, confirmed Monday, November 1.

Teguh said BMKG predicts the peak of the rainy season in East Java to occur in November. The 17 areas that received the early warning, namely Malang, Probolinggo, and Bondowoso, are predicted to experience extreme weather in the morning.

Furthermore, Mojokerto, Ngawi, Ponorogo, Pacitan, Trenggalek, Blitar City, Kediri, Malang, Batu City, Pasuruan, Probolinggo, Jember, Bondowoso, and Situbondo, predicted extreme weather in the afternoon and evening. People in the 17 areas are also advised to be more careful in their activities outside the home.

"With this early warning, people can be more aware of lightning and strong winds during the rainy season", he said.

Meanwhile, at night, BMKG estimates that there will be no extreme weather. However, the rain is still pouring down in some areas with low intensity or drizzle.
