Basarnas Deploys Evacuation Team Of Dozens Of People Trapped In The River

PADANG - The Padang National SAR Agency, West Sumatra deployed a team to evacuate dozens of people trapped by the Lubuk Ngalauan river, Bangek River, Koto Tangah District, Padang.

"After receiving a report from the community at around 7:25 pm, we immediately dispatched a team to the location," said the head of the Padang Basarnas, Asnedi, as quoted by Antara, Friday, October 29 night.

Asnedi said the team that was dispatched to handle incidents categorized as dangerous to human safety consisted of seven people accompanied by complete equipment.

"The target is to evacuate dozens of victims who are trapped so they can cross the river, because it was night and the weather was rainy," he said.

Meanwhile, the location of the trapped victim was quite difficult, because the officers had to take a footpath about 30 minutes from the point where the vehicle stopped.

Asnedi detailed that one of the 12 victims trapped was a woman, while the rest were boys with an average age of teenagers.

They are Novalina (35), Zarhan (12), Kemal (25), Abel (16), Tujet (25), Memet (25), Ayat (25), Tomi (30), Aji (21), Roni (32 ), Nando (28), and Irfan (18).

The dozens of victims were initially known to have gone to bathe in the Lubuk Ngalauan river on Friday afternoon at around 14.00 WIB.

At that time, suddenly the river water flow increased due to rain in the upstream part, so that dozens of victims were trapped on the other side of the land without any settlements.

On the other hand, Asnedi reminded the public to remain careful when it rains, especially with high intensity in order to anticipate disaster events.

Residents who are active outside their homes are also asked to remain vigilant, especially when crossing areas prone to landslides.
