The Mandala Krida Stadium Case In Yogyakarta Is Still Being Investigated, KPK: It's A Process, It Can't Be Done Quickly

YOGYAKARTA - Chairman of the KPK Firli Bahuri, said the handling of the alleged corruption case in the construction of the Mandala Krida Stadium in the 2016-2017 budget at the Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) Provincial Government is still in the process of being investigated.

"It's a process. The (investigation) process can't be rushed," he said, in Sleman, Yogyakarta Special Region, quoted by Antara, Friday, October 29.

During the investigation process, he said, investigators were trying to find, collect witness statements, as well as evidence to uncover cases and find suspects.

Furthermore, Firli said, in every case handled, the KPK should not be in a hurry to determine the suspect. "Our principle is to determine the suspect when we have found the evidence," he said.

According to Firli, the alleged corruption case in the construction work of the Mandala Krida Stadium, which has not been announced the name of the suspect, does not mean that the KPK is deliberately delaying the handling process, which has begun since the end of 2020.

"No one wants to slow down the settlement of cases, but it is necessary to understand that the investigation process is a process," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Alex Marwata, added that the names of the suspects in the alleged corruption case at the Mandala Krida Stadium would be announced according to the KPK's policy, namely at the same time as forced efforts to both arrest and detain suspects. "That (investigation process) is ongoing," he said.

In investigating the case, the KPK has summoned a number of witnesses. Searches were also carried out in several locations, such as the DIY Education, Youth and Sports Office and the DIY Youth and Sports Agency. The KPK investigation team secured documents related to the case from the search.
