Youth Pledge Day, Don't Let Us Get Tired Of Talking About Diversity

JAKARTA - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, reminded Indonesia's young generation not to get tired of talking about diversity and unity whose spirit was first expressed in the Youth Pledge of October 28, 1928.

Puan assessed that the spirit of the homeland, nation and one language that was inflamed by the youth of the archipelago 93 years ago is also the spirit of the nation's young people today.

"The fire spirit of the Youth Pledge must not be extinguished, it must not even dim a bit," said Puan commemorating the 93rd anniversary of the Youth Pledge, Thursday, October 28.

"For the young generation who will be the future of the nation, never get tired of talking about diversity and unity," continued Puan.

Puan assessed that the buds of division began to grow when this nation stopped talking about diversity which is a source of strength in unity. "On the other hand, if we continue to maintain unity, Indonesia will continue to advance," he said.

According to the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, diversity in Indonesia is a source of strength and unity, not division. "We see diversity in Indonesia as a blessing, not a source of swearing," he said.

Puan also stated that the DPR as a representative of the people will be keen to see any challenges in an effort to maintain the unity of Indonesia.

“As Bung Karno said, from the very beginning we wanted to establish a country for all. Not for one person, not for one group, both the nobility, and the rich, but all for all. We are establishing a national state of Indonesia,” concluded the grandson of the proclaimer.
