Road users complain about flooding on Jalan DI Panjaitan

JAKARTA - The rain that flushed the city of Jakarta and its surroundings caused puddles on a number of roads in Jakarta. One of them occurred on Jalan DI Panjaitan, Cawang, Jatinegara, East Jakarta.

Due to the flood, one section of the road could not be crossed by vehicles because of the 50 cm high inundation. As a result, traffic jams stretch from PCG Cililitan to Tanjung Priok.

In fact, a number of two-wheeled vehicles broke down when trying to hit the flooded areas in the area.

"The DI Panjaitan road is often flooded if the rainfall that flushes the city of Jakarta is quite high," said Sapto Hadi, a motorist who passed the location, Wednesday, October 27.

Due to the inundation that occurred, Sapto was forced to wait until the inundation receded. But if the inundation still occurs, he admits that he will be forced to hit the flood.

"The traffic jam is quite (long). If it rains heavily here often, so I'm late for work. If I have to, it's the most through this puddle," he said.

Sapto hopes that people will not throw garbage in the waterways so that there will be no blockages.

"Many are littering too. Hope the government will not flood again (here)," he said.

Meanwhile, a number of two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles must take turns being patient while crossing Jalan DI Panjaitan, Jatinegara. Vehicles that were desperate to break through the flood experienced engine failure.

This flood is caused by high intensity of rain and poor drainage system. Although a number of officers from the East Jakarta Sub-dept. of Water Resources (SDA) were deployed, the water was still stagnant.
