In Front Of Minister Nadiem And Governor of North Sumatra Edy, Mayor Bobby Explains Achievement Of Vaccinations For Student And Teacher

MEDAN - Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution said 80 percent of students aged 12-18 years in his area had received vaccine injections. This number is out of 105.000 students who can be vaccinated.

This was conveyed by Bobby Nasution while attending a Coordination Meeting with the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikbud Ristek), Nadiem Makarim, and the Governor of North Sumatra, Edy Rahmayadi in the T. Rizal Nurdin Hall of the Governor's Office.

According to Bobby Nasution, this achievement is due to the hard work of the Medan City Government which is aggressively vaccinating students. Moreover, the Medan City Government is also targeting as many as 5.000 students every day to receive vaccination injections.

In front of Nadiem Makarim, Edy Rahmayadi, Musa Rajekshah, and other regional heads who took part virtually, Bobby Nasution said that 86 percent of the teachers in the Medan City Education Office, namely Kindergarten (TK)/Pre-school (PAUD), elementary and junior high schools, had achieved vaccinations for teachers. The city of Medan has received an injection of the COVID-19 vaccine.

"The rest are for teachers who have not been vaccinated partly because of comorbidities and some are pregnant or entering the pregnancy limit who should not be vaccinated," said Bobby Nasution as quoted from Medan City Government, Tuesday, October 26.

In the coordination meeting, Bobby Nasution also explained the teacher driving program which is an important program of the Minister of Education and Culture, Research and Technology. Bobby Nasution explained that there were 11 PAUD teachers, 55 elementary school teachers, and 40 junior high school teachers participating in the teacher mobilization program.

"All of them have participated in the teacher mover program," said Bobby Nasution.

Meanwhile, Minister of Education and Culture, Research and Technology, Nadiem Makarim said, in holding Limited Face-to-face Learning (PTMT) the most important thing was to accelerate vaccination and strict health protocols (prokes). Based on all the research, Nadiem said everything shows that Indonesian children have lost one year of effective education so that it can have a permanent impact if not addressed immediately.

"If it is not addressed immediately, it will result in learning loss for students, especially for PAUD and Elementary school (SD) children, PTMT is very necessary compared to Junior and Senior high school levels. Because PAUD and SD are the most vulnerable to learning decline," said Nadiem Makarim.

Therefore, Nadiem Makarim asked every regional head to prioritize vaccination for teachers, only after that for students aged 12-18 years old.

Besides that, continued Nadiem Makarim again in this PTMT the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) will also encourage random testing of teachers and students at the national level.

"We ask for support from every regional head to support this activity. This is done so that the positive rate in schools is known during PTMT," he said again.

As for the teacher mover program, Nadiem said that this is a very important program because it will bring changes to other teachers.

"This mover teacher will be a priority in occupying the position of the principal or school supervisor, so those who have passed the selection of the driving teacher program will be prioritized to become principals and supervisors in each region," he explained.
